Where can I download the documents? (Research Proposal, Research Agreement, Consent to Collection and Use of Personal Information)

AGo to ‘Proposal Submission’ tab. Click on ‘Apply’ button to open the application page. You can download each document in the ‘Upload’ section on the bottom right hand side.

AProposal submission will be open until 17:00 p.m. (Korean Time), March 31st, 2021 so that we can correspond any case during our office hours.

How do I apply for LG Global Innovation Contest?

APlease submit your application online at http://www.rnd.lgchem.com/global/gic/proposal. Click on 'Apply' button and fill in related information.

What is the size of the budget per proposal?

ALG Chem will support maximum of 150,000 USD/year for each selected proposal. Each applicant should fill in the detailed expected expense of research in the proposal.

What is the total number of proposals LG Chem will select?

AThere is no limit to the maximum number of selected proposals. LG Chem will try to select as many proposals as possible, as long as they are innovative and genuine ideas.

Can I make revisions to the submitted proposals?

AWe can only accept revisions before you submit the final proposal.
In case there is a system error during submission, please contact us through our official e-mail.

I am not a university professor. Can I apply to LG GIC?

AYes, we accept proposals from universities, research institutes, and other relevant institutions, as long as you can submit an innovative and genuine proposal.

What is the duration of the project?

ADepending on the evaluation results of 1st year’s research outcomes, the project duration can be extended up to certain years.
Q

I am planning to submit a proposal with a co-investigator as well as a graduate student researcher.
Can I submit CVs for all other members from the team?

APlease include brief CVs for each individual in your proposal.

Can I submit multiple proposals?

AYes. There are no limits on the number of proposals that can be submitted from the same investigator.

For the section 2 (Project Description) of the proposal, are there page limits?

ANo. We do not have any limit for each part of the proposal including the project description.

Can you provide the terms and conditions of research contract?

APlease refer to Intellectual Property and Licenses on proposal submission page.

Can I submit a multi-year proposal?

AYes. For multi-year proposals, applicants should provide the details of multi-year research scope and plans in your proposal.
Please note that the extension of research period will be determined after evaluation of the 1st year’s research outcomes and there will be a separate contract signing process.

My research theme does not fit exactly into the GIC 2021 Contest Themes. Can I still apply?

AOf course. GIC is open to proposals not only on the specific keywords that are given, but also on other areas that need innovative solutions. When you apply, please select ‘Others’ Category.
Q

Is there a limit on the indirect expense of the budget?

AThere is no % limit on the indirect expense of your research budget.
Regarding overhead costs, we recommend you to follow the guidelines of the university.
Please make sure that the total budget (direct expense + indirect expense including overhead costs or taxes imposed by the state) is within $150,000/year for each proposal.
